The Philomath City Council plans to hold its next regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at Philomath City Hall.
Leading the agenda is a vote on the 2026-27 fiscal year Capital Improvement Plan, the city’s planning document used to allocate budget funds for capital projects and equipment. Staff made annual adjustments and brought the draft CIP to the Public Works Committee, which reviewed it on May 11 and approved it by consensus after noting a few minor corrections.
The city manager is recommending approval of the CIP as presented. It’s worth noting that council’s approval of the CIP covers the allocation of funding in the budget — not approval of the specific projects themselves.
Also on the June 8 agenda is consideration of a vision statement for the city’s Transportation Safety Action Plan, along with a status update on city-owned properties.
In addition, the council will take up the first reading of an ordinance that concerns the vacation of an unimproved alleyway off North Eighth Street.

Why doesn’t the city improve south 13 th street with sidewalks and curbs and bike paths. After all it’s the road that gets used the most going south of town and when the rodeo gets going. And yet it’s the ugliest street in town. Sink holes ditches broken sidewalks that do exist. If part of it is the county then work with the county to fix it and improve it for safety concerns.
