FRIDAY, MAY 29

• 2:43 p.m. — Troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash on Highway 26 about 4.5 miles east of Sandy that took the life of Briande Boudreau Lybbert, 39, of Portland. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a blue Subaru Impreza driven by a 16-year-old girl pulled onto Highway 26 near Southeast Weber Road to head westbound when it failed to yield the right of way. A westbound Ford Focus driven by Lybbert struck the back left of the Subaru. The Ford then entered the eastbound travel lane where it collided head-on with a white U-Haul moving truck driven by a 68-year-old Castle Rock, Colorado, man. Lybbert was pronounced deceased at the scene. The U-Haul’s driver and a passenger were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. The Subaru’s driver was not injured and was cited for careless driving.

SATURDAY, MAY 30

• 1:18 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 18 in rural Tillamook County east of Otis that took the life of Patrick John Stubblefield, 43, of Salem. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a black Cadillac sedan driven by a 43-year-old Scotts Mills man was traveling eastbound when it failed to negotiate a corner and continued straight into the westbound lane for an unknown reason. The Cadillac collided head-on with a westbound Hyundai Sonata driven by a 22-year-old Elgin woman. Stubblefield, a passenger in the Cadillac, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Cadillac’s driver, the Hyundai’s driver and two adult passengers were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
