The Philomath High School boys tennis team defeated Molalla, 7-1, on the road Monday afternoon. The match was a makeup after the two teams had been rained out this past Thursday.

The Warriors won four of the seven matches by default with the opponent having a roster limited to seven varsity players.

Of the matchups on the court, Philomath won three of four. Senior Andrew Leonard won in straight sets over Allen Simental, 6-2, 7-6, at No. 1 singles.

Doubles winners were senior Osvaldo Garcia-Bazan and junior Jackson Holroyd (7-5, 6-2) and seniors Gradin Fairbanks and Owen Thomas (6-4, 6-4). In the most competitive match of the afternoon, Molalla’s Lucas Berreth and Luke Bauge outlasted PHS senior Sawyer Ainsworth and junior Jackson Rice at No. 1 doubles, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.

Philomath (8-2 overall, 1-1 district) is scheduled to play at 4 p.m. Tuesday at home against North Marion.
