Philomath High School junior Mason Stevens won two individual events and swam legs on two winning relays to highlight local results out of a small three-school meet Saturday afternoon at a meet hosted by North Marion.

Stevens took first place in the 100-yard freestyle (1:05.04) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.87). Senior Emmitt Gaskey also posted an individual win for the boys with his performance in the 100-yard backstroke (1:17.82).

On the relays, Philomath’s 200 medley foursome won  in 2:10.52 with Stevens, senior Ethan Aynes, Gasket and sophomore Wyatt Coen participating. The team also won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:59.64 with Gaskey, Stevens, Coen and senior Alex Dye.

For the girls, senior Kyah Weeber won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:14.60.

In the team standings, the Philomath boys won with 71 points ahead of Salem Academy (38) and North Marion (0). Salem Academy won the girls portion of the meet with 82 points to Philomath’s 36 and North Marion’s 7.

Philomath is scheduled to host a tri-meet this coming Friday at 4:15 p.m. Scheduled to compete with the Warriors are Crosshill Christian (Mount Angel) and Kennedy (Mt. Angel), a pair of 2A schools.
