SATURDAY, AUG. 9
• 6 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near Wilsonville that took the life of Ricardo Hernandez, 28 of Keizer. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Hernandez was driving north on I-5 in a Chevrolet Avalanche and left the roadway, striking the rear end of a parked semi-truck that was occupied by a 57-year-old woman and 58-year-old man, both from Elk City, Oklahoma. Hernandez was declared deceased at the scene. The occupants of the truck were reportedly not injured.
SUNDAY, AUG. 10
• 4:50 a.m. — Troopers responded to a vehicle-pedestrian crash on Interstate 5 near Siskiyou in Jackson County that took the life of Scarlet Laresia Guenther, 50, of Eagle Point. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a semi truck operated by a 37-year-old Riverside, California, man was headed north on I-5 and struck Guenther, who was standing in the lane of travel. Guenther was declared deceased at the scene. The truck driver and a passenger, a 38-year-old man, were reportedly not injured.
MURDER-SUICIDE INVESTIGATION
MONDAY, AUG. 11
• The Oregon State Police has been requested to lead the investigation of a murder-suicide in the Picket Creek area in Josephine County. At 9:37 a.m. on Aug. 11, Josephine County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 200 block of Hussey Lane in the Picket Creek area after receiving a request to check the welfare of a woman who had uncharacteristically not shown up for work. Deputies and OSP entered the residence and discovered five people who appeared to have been killed by a firearm. Hannah Marie Behee, 42, an 11-year-old boy, a 9-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl were discovered in the residence with fatal gunshot wounds. Chad Scott Behee, 40, was found also deceased in what investigators believe was a murder-suicide incident. The Grants Pass Police Department is assisting OSP with the investigation.
