FRIDAY, MAY 2
• 9:08 a.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 199 about 6 miles south of Cave Junction that took the life of William Robert Murphy, 37, of Cave Junction. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Murphy was headed south on a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he crossed over into the northbound lane, entered a pullout area, left the improved portion of the roadway, entered a ditch and struck a tree. Murphy was declared deceased at the scene.
SATURDAY, MAY 3
• 12:23 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 58 at the intersection with Crescent Lake Highway in Klamath County that took the life of Terryl Thomas Ball, 47, of Crescent Lake Junction. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Ball entered Highway 58 from Crescent Lake Highway on a Yamaha TW200 motorcycle and struck the side of a westbound semi-truck driven by a 32-year-old Clackamas man. Ball was declared deceased at the scene. The truck driver was reportedly not injured.
THURSDAY, MAY 8
• 8:52 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 97 about 11 miles north of La Pine that took the life of Anthony Buddrick Torres, 25, of La Pine. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Torres was driving south on Highway 97 in a Dodge Caravan when he crossed the centerline and struck head-on a northbound semi-truck driven by a 52-year-old man from Williams, California. The collision caused both vehicles to become fully engulfed in flames, requiring response from local fire crews to extinguish. Torres was declared deceased at the scene. The truck driver reportedly sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area medical center for treatment. According to OSP’s investigation, Torres had been reported as suicidal, and the incident is being investigated as intentional.
