SUNDAY, JULY 5
• 12:01 a.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 82 near Umatilla that took the life of Martin Romulo Diaz, 42, of Kennewick, Wash. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a westbound Dodge Ram driven by a 28-year-old Kennewick man was traveling when it failed to maintain the lane of travel and left the roadway causing the vehicle to roll several times. Diaz, a passenger in the Dodge, was declared deceased at the scene. The Dodge’s driver and another passenger, a 48-year-old Kennewick man, were transported to a hospital with serious injuries. A third passenger, a 21-year-old Kennewick man, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Speed and impairment are believed to be contributing factors in the crash.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 8
• 8:46 p.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 near Pendleton that took the life of Isaac Joseph Ciriano Jr., 50, of Pendleton. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Ciriano was driving a westbound Ford Explorer when it left the roadway for an unknown reason. The vehicle rolled twice, ejecting the driver. Ciriano was transported to an area hospital and later died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
