THURSDAY, NOV. 7
• 8:33 a.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 86 about 13 miles west of Richland that took the life of Devin Orion Rasmussen, 26, of Halfway. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Rasmussen was driving east in a Toyota Corolla and failed to negotiate a corner, left the roadway and overturned into the Powder River. Rasmussen was declared deceased at the scene.
• 1 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 20 about 17 miles east of Bend that took the life of Stephen Paul Tranhaile, 67, of Redmond. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Tranhaile was operating a Hasqvarna motorcycle and attempting to merge into the highway’s eastbound lane but was still in the westbound lane when struck head-on by a Ford F-150 driven by a 39-year-old Bend man. Tranhaile was declared deceased at the scene. The Ford’s driver was reportedly not injured.
FRIDAY, NOV. 8
• 5:55 p.m. — Troopers responded to a vehicle-pedestrian crash on Highway 101 near Hauser in Coos County that took the life of William Kent Scoville, 49 of North Bend. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Scoville was in the highway’s southbound lane attempting to remove items from the roadway when he was struck by a Toyota Rav4 driven by a 32-year-old North Bend man. Scoville was declared deceased at the scene. The Toyota’s driver and a passenger, a 58-year-old North Bend woman, were not injured.
SATURDAY, NOV. 9
• 7:44 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 18 in Yamhill County that took the life of Giovanni Zamora, 22, of Woodburn. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Zamora was driving east in an Acura CL when the vehicle drifted off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected into the oncoming lane and was struck head-on by a westbound Toyota Avalon driven by a 21-year-old Philomath woman. Zamora was declared deceased at the scene. The Toyota’s driver was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital. See separate story.
• 10:04 p.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 95 about 1 mile north of Sheaville in eastern Malheur County that took the life of Nicholas James Alexander, 46, of John Day. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Alexander was driving north in a Hyundai Sonata and for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the lane of travel and rolled before coming to a rest. The collision ejected both occupants who were reportedly not wearing their seatbelts. Alexander was declared deceased at the scene. The passenger, a 40-year-old John Day woman, was seriously injured and transported via Life Flight to an area hospital.
SUNDAY, NOV. 10
• 1 a.m. — Troopers responded to a vehicle-pedestrian crash on Highway 101 in Brookings that took the life of James Lorin Tavel, 39, of Brookings. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Tavel was struck in the northbound lane by a Honda CRV driven by a 34-year-old Brookings woman. The Honda’s driver fled the scene and was later arrested by law enforcement. Travel was declared deceased at the scene. The Honda’s driver and a passenger, a 37-year-old Brookings woman, were not injured.
• 4:12 a.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 224 about 1 mile west of Barton in Clackamas County that took the life of Martin V. Crumpton, 64, of Riverside. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Crumpton was driving east in a Buick Rainier when for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the road and struck a tree. Crumpton was declared deceased at the scene.
• 11:40 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 99 at the intersection with Ellen Avenue in Central Point that took the life of Brian R. Foreman, 76, of Central Point. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a 72-year-old Medford man driving a Ford Windstar was attempting to turn south onto the highway from Ellen Avenue and was struck by a northbound Toyota Camry driven by a 28-year-old Medford man. Foreman, a passenger in the Ford, was ejected from the vehicle and declared deceased at the scene. The Ford’s driver and a passenger, an 85-year-old Medford woman, and the Toyota’s driver were all seriously injured and transported to an area hospital.
TUESDAY, NOV. 12
• 4:43 p.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on the Northwest Expressway in Eugene that took the life of Jeffery Alan Milchak, 40, of Eugene. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Milchak was driving north in an Acura MDX when for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and became fully engulfed by a fire. Milchak was declared deceased at the scene.
