FRIDAY, JULY 19
• 3:10 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 730 about 9 miles west of Umatilla that took the lives of Abraham Figuerou-Ayala, 51, of Umatilla, and a male juvenile. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Jeep Wrangler driven by a 41-year-old Las Vegas man was headed west on Highway 730 and for unknown reasons crossed into the eastbound lane and crashed head-on into a Nissan King Cab pickup driven by Figuerou-Ayala. Figuerou-Ayala and the boy, a passenger, were declared deceased at the scene. The Jeep’s driver and a 41-year-old Las Vegas woman who was a passenger, reportedly suffered serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
SUNDAY, JULY 21
• 2:09 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 about 6 miles south of the Corvallis-Lebanon Highway exit that took the life of Scott Alan Palmer, 53, of Camarillo, California. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a northbound Lexus GS driven by a 23-year-old Woodburn man rear-ended a northbound Toyota Camry driven by a 37-year-old La Center, Washington, man. Palmer, a passenger in the Toyota, was declared deceased at the scene. The Toyota’s driver reportedly suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The Lexus driver reportedly suffered minor injuries and was medically cleared before he was arrested by OSP on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants.
• 1:45 p.m. — Troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash on Highway 26 about 7 miles east of Sandy that took the lives of Matthew Dorsett, 32, and Claire Elise Kidd Dorsett, 31, both of Redmond, Washington. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Volkswagen Tiguan driven by a female juvenile was headed west on Highway 26 when for unknown reasons it crossed into the eastbound lanes and hit head-on a BMW 540 driven by Matthew Dorsett. Upon impact, the BMW spun into the westbound lanes and was struck by a westbound Tesla T3 driven by a 40-year-old Portland woman. Matthew and Claire Dorsett were both pronounced deceased at the scene. The juvenile driving the Volkswagen and the Tesla driver reportedly suffered minor injuries and both were transported to a local hospital.
TUESDAY, JULY 23
• 5:20 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 101 about 3 miles north of Gearhart that took the life of Thoren Poole, 33, of Seaside. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Dodge Dakota driven by Poole was headed south on Highway 101 and for unknown reasons entered the northbound lane and crashed head-on into a Ford F450 driven by a 50-year-old Warrenton man. Poole was declared deceased at the scene. The Ford’s driver was reportedly seriously injured and transported to a local hospital.
• 6:17 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 22W about 4 miles east of Rickreall that took the life of Amanda Rose Nathe, 41, of Salem. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Chrysler Sebring driven by a 73-year-old Salem woman attempted to turn off Highway 22W onto Oak Grove Road and entered the path of a Ford Expedition driven by a 53-year-old Salem woman. The Ford struck the passenger side of the Chrysler. Nathe, a passenger in the Chrysler, was declared deceased at the scene. The Chrysler’s driver was reportedly seriously injured and transported to a local hospital. The Ford’s driver reportedly suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
