FRIDAY, AUG. 21
• 1:38 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 38 near Elkton that took the life of a 13-year-old boy. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Ram 2500 pickup towing a 17-foot boat, driven by a 63-year-old Portland man, was eastbound on Highway 38 when it left its lane, crossed the centerline and struck a westbound Ford F350 pickup, driven by a 56-year-old Oakland man, head-on. The Ram driver and two passengers, including a 14-year-old girl, were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The Ford driver was transported by Life Flight to a local hospital. Two juvenile males in the Ford were transported to a local hospital with injuries, while the 13-year-old boy was pronounced deceased at the scene. Highway 38 was impacted for approximately five hours during the on-scene investigation. SATURDAY, AUG. 22
• 4:11 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 197 in rural Wasco County that took the life of Cameron Michael Bostick, 21, of Dufur. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Bostick’s southbound Ford Fusion entered the northbound lane for unknown reasons and struck a northbound Ram 2500 pickup, driven by a 35-year-old The Dalles woman, head-on. Bostick was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Ram driver was transported by Life Flight to an area hospital with serious injuries. A 4-year-old girl in the Ram was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Highway 197 was impacted for approximately three hours during the on-scene investigation.
SUNDAY, AUG. 23
• 10:32 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 about 12 miles west of La Grande that took the life of Scott Ray McClinton, 56, of Prescott Valley, Arizona. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that McClinton’s westbound Ram 3500 pickup, towing a utility trailer, rear-ended a slow-moving semitruck driven by a 42-year-old Rosenberg, Texas, man, which was towing a flatbed trailer loaded with spools of cable. McClinton was pronounced deceased at the scene. The semitruck driver was not injured. Three occupants in the pickup suffered minor to serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital. The highway was impacted for approximately five hours during the on-scene investigation.
TUESDAY, AUG. 25
• Troopers are investigating vandalism at multiple Oregon State Parks in Lincoln County that occurred between approximately 10 p.m. Aug. 21 and 7 a.m. Aug. 22. Restroom facilities at Agate Beach State Wayside, Otter Rock State Park, Gleneden Beach State Park and Fogarty Creek State Park were damaged with fixtures removed or destroyed and fires intentionally set at several locations. • 11:35 p.m. — Troopers responded to a vehicle-pedestrian crash on Highway 20 near milepost 10 in Lincoln County that took the life of Cordaro Ryan Stock, 34, of Toledo. See separate story.
WEDNESDAY, AUG. 26
• 8:18 p.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 southbound north of Roseburg that took the life of Deanndra Elaine Hamlett, 25, of Roseburg. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Hamlett’s southbound Toyota Scion TC left the roadway for an unknown reason and rolled over. Hamlett was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. Interstate 5 was impacted for approximately five hours during the on-scene investigation.
