FRIDAY, JAN. 30

• 6 p.m. — Troopers responded to a vehicle-pedestrian crash on Highway 30 near Scappoose that took the life of Sherri Lynn Shaver, 69, of Eagle Creek. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that an eastbound Dodge Ram 2500 driven by a 22-year-old St. Helens man was traveling near Scappoose when it struck Shaver as she was crossing the highway. Shaver was wearing dark clothing in an unlit area of the highway. Shaver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

SATURDAY, JAN. 31

• 7:20 a.m. — Troopers responded to a report of a person down on the northbound shoulder of Interstate 5 near the Exit 24 on ramp at Phoenix. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Anthony Jonathan Byam, 34, of Phoenix, had been struck by a vehicle that did not stop. Byam was declared deceased at the scene. An investigation into the hit-and-run crash was ongoing.

SATURDAY, FEB. 1

• 11 a.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 22 in rural Linn County that took the life of Kellie Jay Scholl, 53, of Sisters. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a westbound Hyundai IONIQ driven by a 55-year-old Sisters man was traveling near Idanha when it attempted to pass another vehicle. For an unknown reason, the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree. Scholl was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Hyundai’s driver was extricated from the vehicle and transported to an area hospital with injuries.
