Tyler went home to Heaven on Saturday, May 9, 2026. He was born in Corvallis, Oregon, on Sept. 20, 2007, to Misty Steele and Travis Smouse.
Tyler grew up in both Wren and Philomath, where he went on to graduate three months early from the Philomath Academy in 2026.
He was active in high school forestry, placing in multiple events and winning first place in cable splicing in 2025 with his splicing partner.
Tyler enjoyed hanging out with his friends, fishing, four-wheeling, riding motorcycles and riding the Dunes, where he won many youth racing events on his quad.
Tyler is survived by his mother, Misty Steele; his father, Travis Smouse (Chelsey); his two brothers, Trace Thorson and Kash Cribbs; and his grandparents, Helen Collett (Robert), Bob Collett (Margaret), Tracy Smouse (Laurie) and Bart Bryant (Colette).
A celebration of life is being planned and is expected to be held in September.
