Robert “Bob” Lee Hamilton, age 77, passed away on Dec. 6, 2024. Bob was born in Grants Pass, Oregon, to Robert and Rebecca Hamilton on Feb. 12, 1947.

Bob leaves behind his three children (Christina Hamilton, Jim Hamilton and Alicia Warren), seven grandchildren (Grace, Reese, Carsten, Justin, Clayton, Devin and Preston), siblings (Ernest Hamilton, Gerald Hamilton and Elaine Booth) and many friends and family.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Paula, in 2008.

Bob served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and came home to marry his wife, Paula Gallgher, on Nov. 4, 1967. They were married 45 years. Bob worked in construction and spent a good amount of time traveling and building around the mid and western states. Bob and Paula settled in Philomath in 1977 to raise their three children.

Bob loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed camping and fishing with the grandkids anytime he could. He was always willing to help out with the kids, take them exploring or have them out to the house to ride quads.

Bob started Bashful Bob‘s in 1973. In the 1980s, he stopped building and started in the window and door business. Work and family were his pride and joy.

In 2022, Bob was diagnosed with a rare cancer of the lining of the blood and lymph vessels. His treatment provided two years of quality time with us.

He passed peacefully late evening Dec. 6 after 10 days of being home on hospice with constant care of his family.

If you knew Bob, you knew he was a person with strong opinions, thus the nickname “Bashful Bob.” He was not at all Bashful, he did NOT want a traditional funeral, “something simple at the shop was fine.”

The family will honor his wishes with a simple informal open house to remember him. The plan is to gather, share stories and enjoy refreshments (some of his favorites will be on hand … Cheetos and strong coffee).

The open house is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14, from 2-6 p.m. at Bashful Bob’s Windows & Doors, 430 Sawtooth Lane, Philomath.

Arrangements were made with DeMoss-Durdan Funeral Home and Crematory.
