Marie Stowell Blackledge April 8, 1928 – Feb. 19, 2021 |
Marie was born in Chicago, Illinois, and as a young adult moved to southern California. There she met and married Emmett L. Stowell and raised three children; Jan, Edith and Dale. In 1962 the family moved to Philomath, Oregon, settled in a small home outside of town and remained there for over forty years.
Emmett suffered a debilitating stroke in his early seventies, but Marie cared for him through difficult times. She could often be seen around town pushing him in his wheelchair until his passing in 2003, after nearly fifty years of marriage.
Marie went on to marry Robert Blackledge until his passing, then Lester Stout until his passing. Again, she cared for each through difficult times. As a dedicated wife and mother, she always seemed happiest caring for others.
Marie was loved by many, but none more so than her children. She set the example of what to do when life becomes difficult. Although she lived to ninety-two years young, we mourn her passing too soon. We love you mom and will never forget your love and lessons. You are always in our heart.
