Longtime resident of Philomath, Dalmon “Ed” Calcote, passed away Sept. 1, 2024, at the age of 101.

He was born July 23, 1923, in Rosepine, Louisiana, to Ross Calcote and Gertrude Johnson Calcote. Ed left school early to help at home. In September 1942, he enlisted in the United States Navy BKR1c(T). After surviving the battle of Leyte Gulf, he left the Navy with an honorable discharge.
In 1943, Ed married Dorothy Williams (divorced 1966) and together raised five children — Gary Calcote, Terry Hickmann, Dale Calcote (deceased), Shirley Chespin (deceased) and Joyce Potts (deceased). Ed married again in 1970 to Margaret Rouse (deceased) who had three daughters — Carol Heegle (deceased), Janet Haskins and Susan Peterson.
Ed was a longtime loving member of the Circle Church of Christ in Corvallis. He is the last survivor of his mother, father, five sisters, brother and numerous other relatives. Ed’s blended family had 18 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made in Ed’s name to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
