The Philomath High School softball team dropped its fourth straight game Wednesday with a 19-2 loss in three innings against visiting North Marion.
The Warriors (6-6 overall, 1-4 Oregon West) will take the home field again Thursday with a game against Sweet Home. The Huskies come into the contest with records of 8-8 overall, 2-3 in the conference.
Against North Marion (4-11-1, 1-4), Philomath fell into a deep hole in the second inning when the visitors scored eight runs. Another 10 runs were added in the third inning.
Philomath scored twice in the bottom of the third. Sophomore Rylee Martin opened the inning with a single to center field. Junior Sierra Skaggs later walked and junior Riley Mason singled to load the bases. Junior Haley King was then hit by a pitch to push across a run. The second run came in on a ball put in play by sophomore Natalie Muir.
North Marion collected 10 hits and only six of the 19 runs were earned, with the Warriors committing six errors in the field. Junior pitcher Elsa Fuentes allowed four hits and one walk with one strikeout for the visitors. Leadoff batter Rachael Willis, a freshman, had three hits.
