VOLUME 7, NUMBER 42
Friday, February 21, 2026

Good morning, Philomath.

Oregon State Police detectives arrested an 18-year-old man in Philomath yesterday morning on attempted murder and other charges in connection with an I-5 road range incident that occurred last summer. Philomath Fire and Rescue saw a record number of calls in 2025. The school district received a clean audit for the last fiscal year. Samaritan Health Services announced several grants. In partner content, Oregon Capital Chronicle has a report on federal officials attempting to open up millions of acres of forests in western Oregon for “maximum” timber production. There is also a story about measles cases in our state.

Heads up on next newsletter: Because of an unusually busy Friday night (boys basketball, girls basketball, Legend Club induction, Samaritan Awards) and early Saturday morning coverage (state swimming in Beaverton), there will not be a newsletter sent on Saturday morning. Instead, you’ll receive a newsletter with all of that news and more on Sunday morning. — Brad Fuqua, Publisher/Editor
