Good morning, Philomath.

We had a lot of news over the past few days. In Eugene on Saturday, Cassidy Smart became the first PHS athlete to win an individual cross-country title in 22 years and the girls placed third. Be sure to check out the gallery. The volleyball team finished sixth in Coos Bay. the girls soccer team lost in the quarterfinals at Scappoose. Eric Niemann penned a Love of Learning column with a Philomath angle on the 250th birthday of the Marine Corps, a good read for Veterans Day. The search-and-rescue operation for Devon Dobek was suspended. We have the latest Philomath Police Log and Philomath Fire and Rescue Calls, as well as a death notice for Linda Modrell. — Brad Fuqua, Publisher/Editor
