WEDNESDAY, OCT. 29
• 2:45 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 97 at the intersection with Highway 370 near Redmond that took the life of Sheila Ann Nordman, 85, of Redmond. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Nordman was attempting to cross Highway 97 in a westbound Ford Escape when it entered the path of a southbound BMW 3S driven by a 21-year-old Terrebonne woman. The BMW’s driver attempted to stop but struck the Ford nearly head-on. Nordman was declared deceased after being transported to an area hospital. The BMW’s driver and a 2-year-old girl reportedly suffered minor injuries.
THURSDAY, OCT. 30
• 12:30 p.m. — A trooper pulled over a passenger vehicle for a traffic violation on Interstate 5 in Linn County and during the stop, noticed signs of potential criminal activity and deployed drug detection K-9 Millie around the outside of the vehicle. K-9 Millie alerted to the possible presence of controlled substances. The trooper received consent to search the vehicle and discovered a hidden compartment. The search resulted in the seizure of 2 kilograms of fentanyl powder, a handgun and a large amount of U.S. currency. The driver, Oscar Joset Bonilla Sandoval, 24, of San Francisco, California; passenger Jorge Adalberto Escoto Andrade, 34, residence unknown; and passenger Jonathan David Matamoros Carcamo, 22, residence unknown, were taken into custody and charged with drug-related offenses. The case has been referred to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
• 4:20 pm. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 20 about 4 miles east of Lebanon that took the life of Doranna Lee Morris, 73, of Mill City. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that an eastbound Ford F-150 hauling a flatbed trailer driven by a 47-year-old Sweet Home man entered the westbound lane and struck Morris’ westbound Toyota 4Runner nearly head-on. Morris was declared deceased at the scene. Passengers in the Toyota, a 27-year-old Albany woman, a 7-year-old boy, a 4-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl, were transported to an area hospital reportedly with minor injuries. The Ford’s driver was transported to an area hospital reportedly with minor injuries.
SATURDAY, NOV. 1
• 3:50 a.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 140 near Brownsboro in Jackson County that took the lives of two Eagle Point teens. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a westbound Ford F-350 driven by a 17-year-old Eagle Point boy failed to negotiate a curve, crashed through a guardrail and rolled into an adjacent creek. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was declared deceased at the scene. A passenger, Mitchel Frank Thorpe, 18, of Eagle Point, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was declared deceased at the scene. Two additional passengers, a 17-year-old Eagle Point boy and a 17-year-old Medford girl, were transported to an area hospital reportedly with critical injuries. OSP reported that impairment and speed were considered the primary factors of the crash.
SUNDAY, NOV. 2
• 9:24 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 395A south of Pendleton that took the life of Jose Vicente Sanchez, 24, of Umatilla. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a southbound Volkswagen Passat driven by a 24-year-old Hermiston man crossed into the northbound lane for unknown reasons and struck a northbound Nissan 370 driven by a 25-year-old Umatilla woman head-on. Sanchez, a passenger in the Nissan, was declared deceased at the scene. The Volkswagen’s driver was transported to an area hospital reportedly with critical injuries. The Nissan’s driver was transported to an area hospital reportedly with serious injuries.
• 3:22 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 95 (Business) near the intersection with Deck Street in Annex, which is located in Malheur County on the border with Idaho. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that an unknown pickup “brake checked” a Harley Davidson motorcycle. The motorcycle swerved to the left to avoid a collision with the unknown truck but collided nearly head-on with a pickup traveling in the opposite direction. The crash caused serious injuries to the driver and passenger of the motorcycle. The involved vehicle was described as a lifted, white or gray, two-door, 4-by-4, Toyota Tacoma, possibly around a 2015 model, with an Idaho license plate. The pickup may have a sticker in the rear window. It was last seen traveling into Weiser, Idaho. MONDAY, NOV. 3
• 12:20 a.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 238 near Murphy in Josephine County that took the life of Jacob Dean Mix, 36, of Grants Pass. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a westbound Subaru Impreza driven by a 21-year-old Grants Pass man failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, struck a power pole and rolled several times before catching fire. The driver escaped but Mix was not able to exit the vehicle and was declared deceased at the scene. The Subaru’s driver was transported to an area hospital reportedly with minor injuries. OSP reported that impairment and speed are considered primary factors in causing the crash.
TUESDAY, NOV. 4
• 11:17 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 201 about 9 miles south of Owyhee in Malheur County that took the life of Phillip Earl Kinstrand, 70, of Vale. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Kinstrand was driving a northbound Pontiac G5 when it entered the southbound lane for unknown reasons and struck the trailer of a southbound semi-truck driven by a 46-year-old Fruitland, Idaho, man. Kinstrand was declared deceased at the scene. A passenger in the Pontiac, a 35-year-old Ontario woman, was reportedly seriously injured and transported to an area hospital.
• 5:35 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 97 in Sherman County that took the life of Eric Neal Barton, 66, of Corvallis. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Barton was driving a northbound Chevrolet Impala when it crossed into the southbound lane and struck near the rear drive tires a southbound semi-truck driven by a 35-year-old Hanford, California, man. Barton was declared deceased at the scene.
THURSDAY, NOV. 6
• 6:32 a.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 31 in Lake County that took the life of Sydney-Marie Kathrine Dobson, 33, of Keizer. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Dobson was driving a northbound Honda Accord when it failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and rolled. Dobson was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover. Dobson was declared deceased at the scene.
