The Linn-Benton Community College Board of Education swore in Ron Edwards of Lebanon as its Zone 4 board representative at its July 19 meeting.
Edwards will serve a four-year term on the board through June 2027. He replaces Jeannie Davis, who served the college since 2019.
“I believe LBCC can be a leader in career and technical education across the country and provide the needed training for high-paying jobs in the trades,” Edwards said through a press release. “These high-paying jobs are crucial for families in our community.
“It is also important to continue serving LB’s transfer students who want to continue their education at four-year colleges,” he added. “My goal is to learn as much as possible to be an asset to the board.”
Edwards served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-76. He went on to be a nuclear propulsion plant supervisor and a training coordinator. Later he worked at an experimental test reactor before working in hydropower.
Five other board members were re-elected in May and were also sworn in during the July 19 meeting — Kristin Adams (Zone 1), Stacie Wyss-Schoenborn (Zone 2-3), Dick Running (Zone 2-3), Sherlyn Dahl (Zone 6-7) and Jeff Davis (Zone 6-7).
Adams was re-elected as the board chair and Stacie Wyss-Schoenborn was elected as the vice chair.
