Philomath Woman Passes — Mrs. Laura Deming, a former resident of Wisconsin, who came West during the Christmas holidays to make her home at Philomath with her brother-in-law, W.W. Hill, died at 2 o’clock this morning at the Hill home, from general debility. Mrs. Deming was born November 26, 1827, and had passed her ninetieth birthday when death overtook her. The funeral service will be held from the U.B. church at Philomath tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, at 2 o’clock and burial will be in the Newton cemetery. Mrs. Deming is survived by one daughter, Miss Nellie Deming, who accompanied her West. The late Mrs. Hill was a sister of Mrs. Deming.
Editor’s note: Laura Deming lived at the home of her brother-in-law on Main Street. According to her death certificate, she was born in Kingsville, Ohio, the daughter of Aaron Lyon and Malinda Wood. The cause of death was listed as carcinoma of the thigh.
