Classical crossover guitarist David Rogers will bring his acclaimed performances to Cardwell Hill Cellars in a concert from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 18.
The intimate concert at the Philomath-area winery will feature an eclectic mix of Spanish music, up-tempo Latin pieces, Beatles classics, flashy pop arrangements, works by J.S. Bach and original compositions.
Rogers, who has been called “a prominent guitarist” by The New York Times, is known for combining technical mastery with engaging storytelling. The Washington Post has praised his “astonishingly florid” improvisations and audiences can expect both musical excellence and entertaining anecdotes throughout the evening.
Admission is by donation. Cardwell Hill Cellars is located at 24241 Cardwell Hill Drive.
Rogers’ repertoire spans centuries and genres, from 16th-century baroque compositions to contemporary pop music. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel noted Rogers’ distinctive style, writing that “David Rogers played his vihuela (a 16th-century precursor to the guitar) not in the tasteful, restrained way of early music groups, but like a lead guitarist in a rock band.”
As an endorsing artist for Aquila Strings of Italy, Rogers has gained international attention in the guitar world. His music has been featured in prominent guitar publications including Fingerstyle Guitar in the United States and Akustic Gitarre in Germany, where one review described his work as “Music to listen to, be amazed by, and to dream upon.”
