A motorist crashed off a sharp curve on Airport Avenue late Thursday afternoon and was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Philomath Fire and Rescue reported.

Local emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene of the crash at 5:56 p.m. Jan. 4 roughly five miles southeast of Philomath to a section of Southwest Airport Avenue east of Cutler Lane that features a sharp curve to the north.

Deputy Fire Chief Rich Saalsaa said the driver appeared “to have missed the curve and crashed through a sign and fence.”

The driver was assisted out of the vehicle and a Corvallis Fire Department ambulance provided transportation to the hospital.

The road was partially blocked for approximately 20 minutes, Saalsaa said.

Philomath Fire and Rescue responded with a rescue vehicle with four personnel and an incident commander. The Philomath Police Department and Benton County Sheriff’s Office were also at the scene and assisted with traffic control.
