Philomath Mayor Christopher McMorran plans to give a presentation on the local option levy process during the Philomath Fire and Rescue’s board of directors meeting at 3 p.m. Monday at Station 201.

Although McMorran carries the title of mayor, he said in a letter to the board that he would appear before them as a resident of the district. He has experience in such matters through his various levels of involvement in local government. In May 2016, voters approved a bond measure that would allow the district to borrow up to $3.5 million over a 10-year period to replace apparatus and equipment and expand facilities.

The fire district is considering replacing the bond levy with an operating levy. The question could possibly appear on the May 2026 special election ballot, although a final decision has not been determined.

Also on the agenda, the board plans to vote upon wage, benefits and cost-of-living adjustments along with out routine business. Time is also provided for reports from the fire chief, deputy fire chief, office administrator, volunteer association, firefighter union and city liaison.

Following the regular meeting, the board plans to go into executive session (closed to the public) to discuss personnel-related matters as allowed by law.

The fire station is located at 1035 Main St. The meeting can also be accessed through Zoom (see the agenda for instructions).
