The Corvallis Sustainability Coalition’s annual Sustainability Town Hall is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at the CH2M Hill Alumni Center on the campus of Oregon State University. This year’s theme is “Reciprocity: Vision & Action.”

The event is free and open to the public. Organizers said the town hall has limited seating and although not required, encourages those planning to attend to register online.

The program includes three parts, each with a presentation from the main stage followed by discussion and activity at tables.

David Harrelson, Cultural Resources manager of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde, will be the keynote speaker with a presentation entitled, “huy huy: An Indigenous Approach to Abundance through Giving and Receiving.”

The Town Hall program will also include the annual “Community Scrapbook,” a slide presentation highlighting the sustainability achievements of local organizations, businesses and coalition action teams during the past year – actions that are identified as moving the community toward environmental quality, social equity and economic vitality.

Just prior to the Town Hall, the annual Sustainability Fair will begin at 5 p.m. with more than 60 hands-on exhibits, each representing a partner organization or action team of the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition. A spread of local food will be provided by New Morning Bakery and the Nick Rivard/Ben Woodman Jazz Guitar Duo will perform.

Organizers said the event will be waste-free and attendees are encouraged to walk, bike, carpool or take the bus to the event. Bike racks will be available at the front of the venue.
