The Philomath High School softball team traveled to face the Oregon West Conference’s first-place team on Monday and dropped a 13-3 decision in five innings to Cascade.
The Cougars remained unbeaten in league play at 13-0 and have won 16 straight, improving their overall record to 18-5. Philomath goes to 3-10 in the conference, 8-12 overall.
Cascade pulled away with nine runs in the second inning. Statistics from the game were not available.
The Warriors will play at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Newport at the Yaquina View Elementary School field. Philomath and Newport are tied for fourth place in the league standings.
Philomath then comes home for its season finale and Senior Night against North Marion. The start time for the varsity was changed from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Emma May is the lone senior player on the roster.
