Runners and walkers, costumed or not, will hit the roads between Corvallis and Philomath on Sunday, Oct. 11, for the 35th annual Great Pumpkin Run, a fundraiser for Home Life.
The event offers two options — a 10-kilometer run beginning at 9 a.m. and a 5K run/walk beginning at 9:15 a.m. Both events are based at Ashbrook Independent School, 4045 SW Research Way in Corvallis, and the 10K course takes runners into Philomath.

Organizers describe the run as an event for serious runners as well as for those who simply want to get moving and have fun. Participants are encouraged to dress in costume.
Home Life, a nonprofit founded 54 years ago, assists adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Benton and Linn counties. The organization supports about 150 people each year through its residential, supported and community living, and vocational services programs. Proceeds from the Great Pumpkin Run help balance the nonprofit’s budget.
Registration costs $45, or $25 for participants under 16. Prices increase after Sept. 29. Runners can register online through RunSignUp.
