Marys River Grange No. 685 donated $1,320 to Philomath Community Services out of proceeds raised from the recent Plant Sale and Seed Swap, the organization reported.
The fifth annual event was held April 29 at Marys River Grange Hall.
“Our grange cares about our community, yet events like this remind me that our community also cares a great deal for our grange and what we do,” Marys River Grange President Sonny Hays-Eberts wrote in the organization’s most recent newsletter.
Hays-Eberts said events like the Plant Sale and Seed Swap align well with what the grange represents.
“Elevating it by providing useful advice and instruction about habitat, soil preparation, pests, identification, tending and more — this year we added tool sharpening — addresses higher grange principles,” he wrote.
