Benton County will begin a series of public hearings this week involving a conditional-use permit application by Republic Services to expand the Coffin Butte landfill.
The Benton County Planning Division will meet from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday with an agenda that includes a staff report, applicant presentation and if time allows, public testimony. Another meeting is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Thursday to begin or continue public testimony. A public hearing from 6-9 p.m. May 6 has also been scheduled.
Deliberations and a decision are anticipated for a meeting on June 17.
The hearings will be held at the county’s Kalapuya Building (4500 Research Way) in Corvallis. For those interested, written testimony will also be accepted.
Following is a rundown of all government meetings for the week of April 28-May 2:
Monday, April 28
- The Philomath School Board and the Kings Valley Charter School Board plan to meet at 5 p.m. at KVCS for a joint meeting. The agenda includes various updates, a vote on the naming of Philomath High’s softball field and discussions on future collaborations. See the public meeting notice online.
- The City of Philomath Finance and Administration Committee plans to meet at 6 p.m. at City Hall to discuss moving forward with the establishment of the Landmark Drive Local Improvement District. Read the full meeting agenda and packet.
Tuesday, April 29
- The Philomath School District’s bargaining team plans to meet with the Philomath Education Association from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Philomath High School library. The purpose of the meeting is to bargain a new agreement between the district and the teachers’ union. The public is invited to attend but will not be able to participate. - The Benton County Planning Division will host a meeting on a Republic Services conditional-use permit application regarding Coffin Butte landfill expansion from 6-9 p.m. at the Kalapuya Building. Wednesday, April 30
- The city’s Budget Committee plans to meet at 6 p.m. at City Hall to begin the process of putting together the 2025-26 fiscal year budget. Budget training with an overview of budget law will be on the agenda. Meeting agendas will be posted.
