State Rep. David Gomberg (D-Otis) last week filed for re-election in House District 10.
“I’m proud of my record, my accomplishments and my ability to work with both sides,” Gomberg wrote this week in his newsletter. “The result has been money for critical local projects, bills that have helped wildfire survivors and changes that have made life better in our rural communities.”
Gomberg, 72, has represented House District 10 since January 2013. The boundaries have changed in recent years but currently, the district encompasses all Lincoln County and portions of Benton and Lane counties. Cities in the district include Philomath, Monroe, Alsea, Blodgett, Summit, Lincoln City, Newport, Toledo, Waldport, Yachats, Depoe Bay and Siletz.
Gomberg described House District 10 as a “swing seat” and commented that he is one of a dwindling number of rural, moderate Democrats.
“It is not safe for Democrats or safe for Republicans but can swing either way,” he said. “I have been targeted for defeat in the past and expect to see challenges in the future. I have stood up to Portland and stood up for rural and coastal Oregon. I’ve always worked with anyone, regardless of their party, to do what is right for our district.”
In the November 2026 election, all 60 seats in the Oregon House will be on the line — along with 15 state senators. In the House, the Democrats currently hold a 37-23 majority. Gomberg served as speaker pro tempore for the 2025 legislative session.
