The Philomath High School girls tennis team pulled off a clean sweep over Estacada Tuesday afternoon on its home courts with straight-set victories in all eight matchups.
In the singles matches, Philomath won 48 of the 52 games that were played, including 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 1 with Adele Beckstead and No. 3 with Lucy Thomas. No. 2 singles player Lucy Thomas won 6-0, 6-2 and at No. 4, Ella Hammonds took a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
The most competitive match of the afternoon occurred at No. 1 doubles where Maggie King and Lizzie Workman pulled out a 6-4, 7-6 win over Madeline Clements and Eden Tourville. Philomath’s other doubles winners were Lucie Oster and Clara Neville at No. 2 (6-0, 6-1), Bethany Cannon and Bella Nuñez at No. 3 (6-1, 6-3) and Lacey Bacho and Isabelle Norman at No. 4 (6-1, 6-2).
The boys fell on the road by a 7-0 count. Estacada won all four singles matches and one doubles match in straight sets. The home team won two other doubles matches by default.
Philomath is scheduled to compete Thursday against Junction City — the boys at home and the girls on the road. The action at both venues are slated for 4 p.m. starts.
