Fire & Rescue Calls: July 29-Aug. 4, 2022

Editor’s note: This log is based on information submitted to the newspaper by Philomath Fire & Rescue. Locations are approximate. Following is a rundown of all calls for the period of July 29-Aug. 4:

FRIDAY, JULY 29

• Medical, 2:44 a.m., 25000 block of Airport Avenue.

• Fire alarm, 3:56 p.m., Philomath Elementary School.

• Medical, 10:46 p.m., 1000 block of Applegate Street.

SATURDAY, JULY 30

• Medical, 10:40 a.m., 24000 block of Neuman Road.

• Wildland fires, 2:39 p.m., Highway 20 near Noon Road, and 2:44 p.m., Highway 20 near Shrike Way; separate fires on incline to Wren Hill westbound; both extinguished by passers-by; fire less than 50 square feet; Oregon Department of Forestry assisted by managing mop-up on one fire while Fire & Rescue handled the other mop-up in a brush rig; unknown how the fires started.

• Wildland fire, 4:23 p.m., Kings Valley Highway near Hoskins Road; fire on private property; canceled en route; fire extinguished by Hoskins-Kings Valley Rural Fire District with assistance from the Oregon Department of Forestry; fire less than 1 acre in size; fire ignited by malfunctioning equipment.

SUNDAY, JULY 31

• Medical, 12:58 a.m., 24000 block of Gellatly Way.

• Medical, 11:06 a.m., 100 block of North Ninth Street.

• Wildland fire, 11:31 a.m., Highway 20 near Garrett Lane; three spot fires on incline of Highway 20 up Wren Hill eastbound; fires extinguished by neighboring property owner; fires all less than 20 square feet; fires ignited by malfunctioning catalytic converter with metal pieces found on each spot; Fire & Rescue response included Type 3 engine and three personnel; Oregon Department of Forestry assisted.

• Medical, 12:24 p.m., 22000 block of Highway 34.

MONDAY, AUG. 1

• Medical, 8:27 a.m., 500 block of North Eighth Street.

• Medical, 8:50 a.m., 100 block of South 14th Street.

TUESDAY, AUG. 2

• Medical, 10:28 a.m., 1300 block of Applegate Street.

• Fire alarm, 3:58 p.m., 1000 block of Summerton Way.

• Fire, 5:16 p.m., 400 block of South 30th Street; fire out on arrival, contained to the source of ignition, which was a dryer; Fire & Rescue response included an engine and personnel checked to make sure the fire was completely out.

• Medical, 7:07 p.m., 1700 block of Main Street.

• Medical, 8:32 p.m., 1200 block of Pioneer Street.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 3

• Medical, 8:48 a.m., 2400 block of Green Street.

• Medical, 4:28 p.m., 100 block of North Ninth Street.

• Fire, 9:53 p.m., 38000 block of Alexander Road; tree fell over a power line in Kings Valley, pulling the lines to the ground which ignited a small fire; Fire & Rescue responded with a brush rig and was on stand-by while Consumers Power cut power to the line before extinguishing it; fire less than 50 square feet in size and was contained to the area.

THURSDAY, AUG. 4

• Public assistance, 12:09 p.m., 25000 block of Falcon Place.

• Mutual aid, 1:55 p.m., 500 block of Southwest 35th Street.

• Medical, 2:56 p.m., 1000 block of Applegate Street.
