SUNDAY, JUNE 9
• 5:50 a.m. — Emergency medical personnel responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 20 and Mustang Lane. The driver, a 33-year-old Toledo woman, left the roadway and struck a small tree. The driver reported burning on her face and upper chest, possibly from the impact of an airbag and friction of the seat belt, and was examined on site. She refused transportation to the hospital.
• 12:34 p.m. — Firefighters responded to a tractor that caught fire in a field off Chapel Drive near the Marys River. According to Fire and Rescue, the tractor’s operator said there were no mechanical issues but that dark smoke started pouring out of the engine compartment. The operator attempted to put out the fire with a small extinguisher but that had limited results and 911 was called. Fire and Rescue initially sent an engine company with four personnel and a duty officer. With limited access, a brush truck was then brought out to reach the tractor. The engine crew met with the brush rig after hiking into the field and a hose line from the brush truck was used to douse the fire. No injuries were reported. It was determined that the cause of the fire likely involved dry field grasses that were blown up into the engine compartment and caught fire on the exhaust pipes.
