FRIDAY, AUG. 21
• 2:12 p.m. — Firefighters were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash with injuries on Marys Peak Road, responding with six personnel in an engine and a command vehicle. Upon arrival, crews found a single vehicle on its side. Both occupants had freed themselves before crews arrived. Both individuals were evaluated and transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center by the Corvallis Fire Department and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
Other calls: Emergency medical services responded to calls at 9:23 a.m. (North 12th Street), 6:03 p.m. (Neuman Road) and 9:54 p.m. (Kings Valley Highway and Labare Road).
SATURDAY, AUG. 22

SUNDAY, AUG. 23
• 4:11 a.m. — Firefighters were dispatched to a small wildland fire on Marys River Estates Road, responding with five personnel in an engine, a heavy brush truck and a command vehicle. Upon arrival, crews found sparks from a power transformer had ignited grass beneath a power pole — a fire about 20 feet in diameter that neighbors were already working to extinguish. Crews knocked back the fire with a hand line and wet line before turning the scene over to the power company. No structures or property were damaged.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 26
• 4:48 a.m. — Firefighters were dispatched to a fire alarm activation in the 600 block of Applegate Street.
• 9:43 p.m. — Firefighters were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash with injuries at North Ninth Street and Pioneer Street, responding with five personnel in an engine and a command vehicle. Upon arrival, crews provided medical care.
THURSDAY, AUG. 27
• 11:52 a.m. — Firefighters were dispatched to a small fire near Marys River Estates Road and Highway 20, responding with three personnel in a brush truck and a command vehicle, after a report of smoke from a gas pump along the Marys River. Crews found a board smoldering where it had been used to support a hose coming off the pump head. Heat from the pump’s exhaust had ignited the board. The fire was extinguished.
• 12:19 p.m. — Firefighters were dispatched to a mutual aid call on Elkins Road in Polk County near Monmouth, responding with three personnel in a brush truck and a command vehicle. Crews joined a Benton County Task Force in support of the Polk County Fire District during the Elkins Fire. The task force was assigned to the north division for structure protection and used point protection techniques to save a large metal pole building that had fire impinging on it upon arrival.
