FRIDAY, JULY 11

• 1:03 p.m. — Firefighters responded to a request to go on standby at the Corvallis Fire Department’s Station 2.

• 5:50 p.m. — Emergency medical services went on medical standby at the Philomath Frolic and Rodeo.

Other calls: Emergency medical services responded to calls at 1:28 p.m. (Aurora Lane), 8:10 p.m. (Philomath rodeo grounds) and 10:24 p.m. (Columbine Drive).

SATURDAY, JULY 12

• 12:08 p.m. — Firefighters responded to a report of pressurized gas leak in the 200 block of South 16th Street. Upon arrival, crews met with the homeowner who had already evacuated the residence as a precautionary measure. Emergency personnel conducted an assessment using gas-monitoring equipment, which showed no carbon monoxide readings on the detector. After confirming the area was safe, crews turned the home back over to the homeowner and cleared the scene.

SUNDAY, JULY 13

• 12:51 p.m. — Firefighters responded to the 300 block of South 17th Street on a public assistance call.

• 9:28 p.m. — Firefighters responded to an odor investigation in the 2400 block of Applegate Street after receiving reports of a sulfur smell in the air. Upon arrival, crews confirmed the odor and began systematically searching for its source. Chief Chancy Ferguson arrived on scene to assist with the investigation and the source was eventually traced to a recreational vehicle that had a battery boiling over and producing smoke. Emergency personnel advised the homeowners of the situation and helped disconnect and safely relocate the hazardous battery away from the RV.

MONDAY, JULY 14

• 6:34 a.m. — Firefighters responded to the 1200 block of Pioneer Street on a public assistance call.

• 8:54 p.m. — Firefighters responded to a smoke investigation in the 300 block of Inspiration Way with crews arriving to discover that a large burn pile from the previous week had rekindled. Emergency personnel extinguished the fire and contacted the landowners, who agreed to properly address the situation the following day using heavy equipment.

Other calls: Emergency medical services responded to calls at 6:12 p.m. (Pioneer Street) and 8:43 p.m. (Applegate Street).

TUESDAY, JULY 15

• No calls of public significance reported.

Other calls: Emergency medical services responded to calls at 9:13 a.m. (Highway 34), 12:51 p.m. (Rosecrest Drive) and 5:43 p.m. (Neabeack Hill Drive).

WEDNESDAY, JULY 16

• 1:35 p.m. — Firefighters were dispatched to the 33000 block of White Oak Road in Corvallis as part of an all-county response to a grass fire. Philomath was canceled en route.

• 10:49 p.m. — Firefighters responded to a report of a possible structure fire in the 200 block of Jade Place after neighbors reported seeing flames. Upon arrival, crews conducted a rapid assessment and determined that the fire had not spread to the interior of the structure. Emergency personnel moved a smoldering wood pile away from the building and fully extinguished it.

Other calls: Emergency medical services responded to calls at 5:35 a.m. (Old Peak Road), 8:55 a.m. (North Seventh Street), 12:23 p.m. (Cardwell Hill Road) and 8:37 p.m. (Highway 34).

THURSDAY, JULY 17

• 3:06 p.m. — Firefighters were dispatched to assist with a wildland fire and motor vehicle crash on Highway 99W near Monroe. However, units were canceled while en route and returned to Philomath before arriving on scene.

• 4:52 p.m. — Firefighters responded to a report of a small bark dust fire in the 800 block of Main Street. The fire was extinguished quickly.
