Editor’s note: This log is based on information submitted to the media by Philomath Fire and Rescue:

FRIDAY, JULY 3

• 12:11 p.m. — Emergency medical services personnel were dispatched to provide mutual aid in Lincoln County on Johnson Creek Road and responded with two personnel in a command vehicle. Upon arrival, the crew was released by Lincoln County, and no care was provided.

• 4:22 p.m. — Firefighters were dispatched to a large wildland fire on Southeast Kiger Island Drive south of Corvallis and responded with two personnel in a brush truck. Upon arrival, the crew assisted the Corvallis Fire Department with fire containment and mop-up.

• 8:21 p.m. — Firefighters responded to a fire alarm activation in the 500 block of Cedar Place.

SATURDAY, JULY 4

• 9:11 a.m. — Firefighters responded to a public assistance call in the 2000 block of Applegate Street. No details on the nature of the response were reported.

• 9:08 p.m. — Firefighters were dispatched to a small fire in the 3000 block of Acorn Court and responded with six personnel in an engine, a brush truck and a command vehicle. Upon arrival, crews learned that a firework had started a fire. The reporting person and neighbors worked to extinguish a 2-by-2-foot fire but wanted it checked out. Crews used tools to overhaul the fire.

• 11:49 p.m. — Firefighters were dispatched to a small miscellaneous fire at North Seventh and Main streets and responded with six personnel in an engine, a brush truck and a command vehicle. Dispatch information first indicated a fire in a garbage can, then upgraded to a full dumpster fire. Upon arrival, crews found smoke showing from a dumpster. Crews worked to extinguish the contents, using tools to move them around. The fire was reportedly started by a neighbor putting used and still-smoking fireworks in the dumpster.

Other calls: Emergency medical services responded to calls at 1:18 a.m. (College Street) and 5:25 p.m. (Main Street).

SUNDAY, JULY 5

• No calls of public significance reported.

Other calls: Emergency medical services responded to calls at 3:54 a.m. (Pioneer Street), 6:13 a.m. (South 18th Street), 9:49 p.m. (Applegate Street) and 10:01 p.m. (Bellfountain Road).

MONDAY, JULY 6

• 5:16 p.m. — Emergency medical services personnel were dispatched to an incident at Newton and James streets involving a child that was stuck in the safety bars around the platform of a slide. The response included four personnel in an engine and a command vehicle. The crew attempted to lift the child free. Shortly after, the child’s father arrived with baby oil, poured it on the child’s knees and pushed the knees out of the bars. A medical assessment was declined.

• 7:06 p.m. — Firefighters were dispatched to provide mutual aid on Bellfountain Road and responded with two personnel in a water tender and a command vehicle. Upon arrival, crews assisted the Monroe Rural Fire Protection District with the extinguishment of a grass fire.

TUESDAY, JULY 7

• No calls were reported.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 8

• 8:43 a.m. — Firefighters responded to a fire alarm activation in the 2300 block of Applegate Street.

Other calls: Emergency medical services responded to calls at 7:21 a.m. (Cardwell Hill Drive) and 1:22 p.m. (North Eighth Street).

THURSDAY, JULY 9

• No calls of public significance reported.

Other calls: Emergency medical services responded to calls at 2:01 p.m. (North 19th Street) and 5:36 p.m. (South 13th Street).
