• 7:48 a.m. — Firefighters responded to the activation of a fire alarm at Philomath Middle School. The alarm was activated due to multiple lightning strikes in the area, which caused a disruption to the system.
• 8:29 a.m. — While at the middle school on the fire alarm call, firefighters responded to a report from the Philomath School District maintenance crew that a tree near the softball fields had been struck by lightning and was damaged. See separate story.
