A 24-year-old Albany woman faces a driving under the influence of intoxicants charge following a crash involving a Corvallis Police Department patrol car.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Highway 99W and Northeast Conifer Boulevard.

According to a CPD release, the patrol car had slowed down on Highway 99W to begin a signaled righthand turn at the light onto Conifer when it was rear-ended.

“Witness accounts and investigation at the scene suggest Johnston was traveling at speeds close to 50 mph when the collision occurred,” CPD states in the release.

Benton County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene and performed standardized field sobriety tests that determined Johnston was showing indications of impairment, the CPD release stated.

Johnston was arrested for DUII with blood alcohol content registering at .19% and also faces a charge of reckless driving.

The Corvallis officer involved in the collision was assessed at a local hospital for minor injuries. The patrol vehicle was totaled as a result of the collision.
