Les and Bob’s, playing in the semifinals of the team’s home baseball tournament at Philomath High on Saturday night, dropped a 4-1 decision to the Columbia Gorge Hustlers 17-and-under squad.
Les and Bob’s got a solid start from Jayce Iverson, who went seven innings and allowed six hits while striking out eight.
Philomath took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Rocco De La Rosa led off with a triple and later scored on a single by Rustan Woosley. But that would be it for the home team’s scoring. Les and Bob’s only other hit came off the bat of Colvin Henley with a single.
Columbia Gorge tied the game in the second and then added three runs in the third.
It was the third time the two teams had met this summer. Columbia Gorge, which has a roster that appears to be mostly made up of players from The Dalles and Hood River Valley, split a doubleheader with Philomath just last week. Les and Bob’s dropped the first game of the twin bill, 11-9, before winning the nightcap, 16-6, in five innings.
Philomath will play for third place at 2:30 p.m. Sunday against Junction City. The championship game at 5 p.m. will feature Columbia Gorge vs. Dallas.
