Appointing a new city recorder, the awarding of various grants and the city manager’s annual performance evaluation process are all included on the agenda for a Philomath City Council meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14.
City Recorder Ruth Post announced her retirement for this year and a search for her successor was launched this summer. Candidates were interviewed last week and a conditional offer extended. If the council approves the recommended candidate, it is anticipated that she would start Oct. 29.
Councilors are also scheduled to award social services and utility assistance grants and make a decision on organizations vying for an allocation from Transient Lodging Tax funds. The council will also review the process it uses to evaluate the city manager’s performance.
The evening is scheduled to begin with an annual report from Republic Services and an Indigenous Peoples Day proclamation.
Also on the agenda, the council will choose a League of Oregon Cities voting delete, consider a permit by Dirt Road Brewing to expand its operation on Main Street and discuss the adoption of a resolution for the filing of grievances related to conduct at public meetings.
The meeting can be viewed live on the city’s YouTube channel.
