The Philomath City Council plans to elect a council president and finalize appointments to various city committees, including the Planning Commission, at its first regular meeting of the year at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11.

This will be the first meeting of the newly sworn-in council and mayor.

The Planning Commission has two seats to fill and received two applications — Gary Conner and Joey McGlinchy. Conner just completed a term that he had been appointed to in 2018. The other seat had belonged to David Stein, who completed a four-year term.

The agenda also includes votes on resolutions that cover a funding transfer within the General Fund, establishing system development charge rates for this year, and reaffirming the continued state of emergency related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Public meeting virtual streaming procedures and a Downtown Safety and Streetscapes project update are also among the discussion points.

A consent agenda vote will include minutes, setting a public hearing on an alley vacation request, setting a public hearing for SDC methodologies and referring the city’s social media policy to the Finance and Administration Committee.

Standing committee reports, representative reports and staff reports are also on the evening’s agenda.

The city plans to hold the meeting via Zoom. The public can watch the live feed of the meeting on the city’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/cityofphilomath. For those unable to view online, contact City Hall at 541-929-6148 to make viewing arrangements.
