Trees will play a big role in the Philomath City Council’s meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall, according to the published agenda.

The city will vote on the two newest Heritage Tree recommendations, present a Heritage Tree Hero of the Year Award, consider a proclamation for Arbor Day and accept a 30-year Tree City USA Award by the Oregon Department of Forestry.

Also on the agenda, the City Council’s plans to staff an information booth at the Farmers’ Market will be discussed and sanitary sewer improvements could be voted upon. In addition, the council will consider resolutions to participate in an update process for the Benton County Multi-Jurisdictional Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan and whether to authorize an application for a Local Government Grant through the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department for the development of Skirvin Park.

For those not attending the meeting in person, it will be livestreamed on the city’s YouTube channel.
