The Philomath City Council plans to consider at its meeting Monday night the formation of a new ad-hoc advisory board that would focus on housing and economic development.
Councilors discussed the idea during a review of the city’s Strategic Plan. Councilor Matt Lehman suggested the advisory group for the purpose of reviewing opportunities that promote affordable housing in Philomath. The proposal calls for a board with five to 11 citizen members.
The council also intends to take a vote on proceeding with a water reservoir repair project. The city in August voted to spend up to $60,000 on an independent consultant to test the concrete slab that was poured in June as part of the construction of a new $4.2 million water reservoir on South Ninth Street.
Meeting for the first time in the calendar year, the council plans to make decisions on various committee appointments, including two vacancies on the Planning Commission and two vacancies on the Park Advisory Board.
Other routine business also appears on the meeting agenda, including a resolution to increase the city’s system development charge rate schedule and approval of an agreement to continue using the state’s ePermitting System.
Councilors are also planning to meet in executive session as allowed under state statute to consult legal counsel regarding current litigation or litigation likely to be filed. For those not attending in person at City Hall, the regular meeting will be livestreamed on the city’s YouTube channel.
