Lumina Hospice & Palliative Care and Old Mill Center for Children and Families are offering a free monthly grief support group for families with children and teens ages 5-18 who are grieving the death of a family member or close friend, the organizations announced.
The group will meet on the first Wednesday evening of each month from Nov. 5 through June 3 at Old Mill Center for Children and Families in west Corvallis. Evening meals will be provided at each session.
The program features age-specific groups where children and teens engage in creative activities designed to encourage discussion and expression of grief and loss, organizers said. Meanwhile, parents and guardians participate in a separate adult group to learn effective ways to support grieving young people.
The program is free to attend through grant support from The Roundhouse Foundation and the Benton Community Foundation. However, families must register and complete an orientation before attending the first session.
To register, call 541-757-9616 or email grief@luminahospice.org.
