The Philomath High School girls tennis team won three of four singles matches but dropped all four in doubles in a 5-3 loss on Tuesday at Cascade.

The Warriors’ top two singles players continued to dominate opponents with Bailey Bell at No. 1 and Adele Beckstead at No. 2 both earning victories of 6-0, 6-0. Daniella Carlisle at No. 3 was also a winner by a score of 6-1, 7-6.

Cascade came out on top in the other matches, however, to nab the team victory. No. 4 singles was close with Philomath’s Megan Reese losing in three sets, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. The No. 4 doubles match was even closer with Elise Reese and Heidi Bacho coming up short, 7-6, 7-5.

The squad has a busy week with matches scheduled for Wednesday at home against Sisters, Thursday at Corvallis and Friday at Stayton. The regional tournament then arrives next week with Day 1 on Monday at Madras and the final two days on May 12-13 at the Salem Tennis and Swim Center.
