The Philomath School Board at its monthly meeting on Thursday plans to take a vote on its proposed 2022-23 budget, finalize its charter school agreement with the Kings Valley campus and hear details about the district’s summer school plans.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the school district office’s conference room.
The school district’s budget discussion will include a public hearing near the beginning of the meeting. The vote will include resolutions on adopting the budget and imposing and categorizing the tax.
Other items on the agenda include discussions on technology fees, board self-evaluation, superintendent evaluation, Philomath Academy update and negotiations with Philomath’s Oregon School Employees Association chapter along with a few other topics.
A consent agenda vote includes several new hires for the 2022-23 academic year, including new assistant principals at the high school and middle school, several teachers and a handful of coaches in sports such as football and dance.
Reports from the superintendent, director of finance, student government, the labor associations and board members are also penciled in for time at the meeting.
Prior to its regular meeting, the board will meet in executive session beginning at 5:30 p.m. for reasons of hearing a complaint brought against an employee, to discuss labor negotiations, to consider information or records that are exempt by law from public inspection and to review and evaluate the employment-related performance of district employees. Executive sessions are closed to the public.
