Philomath’s Music in the Park series continues Wednesday with Blood on the Plow, a John Cougar Mellencamp tribute band, performing at Philomath City Park.

The concert runs from 6-8 p.m. at the Randy Kugler Community Hall and gazebo area. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.

Founded in 2022, Blood on the Plow is a six-piece band that plays Mellencamp’s top hits along with a selection of adjacent tunes. The band’s lineup includes Jerry Coe on lead vocals and harmonica, Billy Lakey on lead guitar, Pat O’Connor on rhythm guitar and backup vocals, Mike Riley on bass, Brian Diep on violin and cello, and Lawrence Hartman on drums and cajon.

The Philomath Lions Club will be on hand with reduced-cost concessions. Philomath Community Library is also returning this year to offer family-friendly activities. Alcohol is not permitted at the event.

Admission is free though donations are welcome to the Philomath Performing Arts Benefit Fund, which supports Philomath students.
