Benton County Board of Commissioners Chair Pat Malone has launched a new series of informal drop-in conversations open to anyone who wants to connect directly with county leadership.

Called “Chats with Pat,” the sessions are designed to give residents, business owners, students and county employees a chance to share ideas and ask questions in a one-on-one setting.

The drop-in hours will be held twice a month on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the lobby of the Kalapuya Building, 4500 SW Research Way in Corvallis. No appointment is necessary — community members can stop in at any time during the scheduled hours.

Upcoming sessions are scheduled for April 14 and April 28.

  1. Too little too late. Trying to save his job for which he has had years to prove himself and has earned a C- at best. Malone’s tenure has reflected a sorry absence of principle, vision and courage. Just blows in the wind. Will never forget his vote and the incompetence presiding over the Coffin Butte landfill expansion – and the “oopsy daisy” backpedaling. I even canvassed for him in prior election cycles and now regret my efforts. We can do better. Malone is not getting my vote again.

  2. I concur with the above comment, and I would add that we had some poor communication with Comm. Malone about some gravel road maintenance in our area. He waited until we had resolved the issue with the Public Work director and then finally announced in an email that “he had been following the whole process” though he had never weighed in on any emails. I also find his decision making about the eminent domain on the McFadden property poorly thought through, losing the County $10 million dollars. Time to retire Pat
