Beazell Memorial Forest will offer residents an opportunity to learn about fungi and explore the fall forest Sunday during its annual Mushroom Day.

The family-friendly event will feature basic mushroom identification workshops and cooking demonstrations at Beazell’s Education Center along with guided trail walks through the forest. Children can participate in crafts and games, and attendees can purchase hot food and merchandise on-site.

A free shuttle service with limited capacity will operate from Avery Park for registered attendees.

Admission costs $15 per person for in-city residents and $18 for out-of-city guests. Families receive a $5 discount for each additional member after the first and children under 12 attend free.

“Mushroom Day is a great way to celebrate the season and discover the hidden life of our forests,” Jesse Ott, Benton County Natural Areas, Parks and Events director said through a news release. “Whether you’re a seasoned forager or just curious, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”

The event is sponsored by Oregon State University, The Mushroomery, Corvallis Environmental Center, Benton County and Corvallis Parks and Recreation.

Registration and additional information are available on the Corvallis Parks and Recreation website.
