The Philomath City Council plans to appoint a new councilor during its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall.

The council will choose between three local residents who submitted applications for the position — Kyle Cupp, a writer and strategist for a human resources tech company; Amanda Polley, an Oregon State University office specialist; and Richard Saalsaa, retired deputy fire chief at Philomath Fire and Rescue.

Also during the evening, a council president will be appointed and vacancies will be filled on the Planning Commission, Budget Committee, Park Advisory Board, Tree Board and Inclusivity Committee. In addition, committee members that have completed terms will be recognized.

Other items on the agenda include a discussion on which councilors may want to attend the League of Oregon Cities’ City Day at the Capitol on Jan. 28, a presentation by Philomath Community Services and the issuance of a proclamation for Poverty Awareness Month. City Manager Chris Workman is also scheduled to give a management report, which features a rundown of news from the city’s various departments.

The regular meeting can be viewed live on the city’s YouTube channel.
